A Long Overdue Update: One in a Series
Alright, so we've gone round and round about how 'everything's been crazy busy' -- tribeca, blah, editing, blah, adr, blah - and now? Coasting. That's right, things have slowed down. We've gone from orange alert (crazy busy) to ____ alert (busy) and that's pretty nice.
Here's where we're at:
The movie is edited, it runs 1 hour and 40 minutes without final credits.
I've had 14 people (half of whom have no relation to the movie or Skinny Bones) watch it a couple of times and they were pretty unanimous in their reviews -- moves well, story's clear, etc. I made only a couple of changes -- text is a bit bigger in some scenes, and a shot was added at the end (we didn't need to do a reshoot to get that shot, we had it in our video ammo bag, I just decided not to use it orginally, and now, after further thought, and the insight of others, it's in. Thank you to the people who saved that shot with the power of their voices -- see, your vote does count!).
Now I have to go through shot by shot to color treat the film and give it its "look."
Kim and Gio are working on the score as we speak.
We still have a few more ADR sessions left with Joe (John) and one more with Antonia (Karry).
Then I have to finish putting in those ADR tracks into the movie, split all the audio up into character's dialogue, room tone, sound effects and music and, in August, Jim and I will sit down and spend a week mixing the movie.
So, everything is rolling to a nice and gentle finish -- and then we hit the festivals and chaos and I start hanging out again.
What's that you say? What's going on with Taxi?
Matt is editing it in LA right now, then we'll check it out with Jon. After a little more tweaking, Matt will give the movie back to me, I'll start mixing the audio while Gio and Jon work on the music. Then we'll finish it up, leave it in PAL format for the festival (it's going to go to Raindance, the UK equivalent of Sundance), and make an NTSC version for everyone else. The festival deadline is July 1st, so you'll be hearing (and seeing) more about Taxi in the weeks to come.
Well, that's all for now.
Oh, wait, Skinny Bones on Air -- where is it? What's it been up to lately?
I'm making that a not too regular thing (as you might have guessed) -- we'll pop in with interesting audio bits, but, other than that, stay tuned here for the super lengthy, not too informative entries.
